  • Barrier HWY blocked.

    Hi All,

News just in on the wire is that the barrier HWY has been blocked by a road train smash that has taken out a bridge just west of Olary in SA.

This is going to have dramatic consequences for freight and travel using this route as there is no tarred route around this. If you are waiting on goods coming from either direction and they don't turn up then they are probably held up in the traffic jam that is building up on both sides of the bridge.

Hate to see the size of that kangaroo!!!! I don't know of many truck drivers that will swerve to miss a roo. Maybe the Driver wasn't as awake as he should have been.

in dec 1980 I was 15, my brother was 19... in an FJ40 with a roo bar, CB and driving lights... I was 15 we were driving Broken Hill to Adelaide...

We smacked into big red's little brother at about 110 just outside of olary, I can tell you I would be dead if we were in a kingswood... the roo bar saved me from having the roo on my lap....... as I was in the passenger seat in the FJ40...

lests han two years later my mother got a broken scapula and my dad the scare of his life when the kingswood hit big red at 100 just outside of yunta...

Bring on the Prado (which i have.... and the ARB bar...plus IPF 900 XS and anybody who can help me get the ebay HID 900XS upgrade installed...)

Given my recent Port Augusta experience of driving at 70-80while coming into Woomera at about 10pm at night.... I can only say look out for the emu's and greys -plus the odd big red...

Welcome to travelling in the best place on earth.

      Have fun... I certainly did....

      PK...

P.S. Post #14 I think for me...... verbose for me, but I would like to think the others may find something useful....
