I have just been on a trip from Adelaide to Alice then the Tanimi with my 06 Prado, the other 4 vehicles were UGH... Patrols. The Tanimi Track was like a highway (could have done it in my wife`s Getz) Mind you my brother in law snapped the axle on his outback camper, 500ks in. We had a Sat Phone with us. One of the guys rang a mate in Adelaide with all the measurements and it was on a freighter the next day, 2 of us returned to Alice while the other 7 stopped at Rheadons Bore. We had hot showers and a counter meal while there. We only lost 2 days of the trip thanks to the Sat phone.
The Gibb River Road was more of the same, which did not endear anyone on the adventure as we were looking for some rough stuff.
After 13,000 ks the Prado had it`s oil change and next fortnight I`m off to Madigan`s Track with 3 Patrols 1 rodeo but I will have a compatriot this trip in another Prado. We only hope it maybe a bit more adventurous than the Tanimi Highway.
