  • Quick electrical question

I have installed a solid kit dual battery monitor. I picked up an ignition source at the rear of the centre console for the main battery . This turns the main battery monitor off when the ignition is off. Good. I have power from my second battery for the aux but his stays on all of the time . Bad? Or does it draw so little power as to be inconsequential? I also have a spare New Pro Tech switch which I planned to use to turn the aux monitor off. The wiring diag it came with has it running throufh a relay but as I have a 3 amp fuse in there anyway I was planning to do without. The wires from it are: Green- Supply;Black- earth; Red/yellow- from relay. 86; Dash ligh- red/yellow [not to worried about this one].
The question is can I just put this in either the power or earth from the aux monitor as a simple on/off switch? If so , which wires where? If this is a no go I can simply put in a simple on/off switch into the power lead from the aux monitor? Thanks

Looks like your ignition source simply powers the main monitor (as you have found)
The way solid kit have done it is install a relay from the ignition source to pin 86 (other side of coil 85 to ground) then used the relay contacts 30/87 to switch the negative wire/s from the monitor to earth. This presumably switches the monitor completely off for both batteries.

Thanks. Managed to get it working with red/yellow and black.
