First genuine steel bar on a Prado (must have upgraded front shocks). GX and GXL only referring to brochure.
Anyone able to confirm upgraded front suspension, or have any details on the new bar.

Outcome expected soon, but first the pollies just need to sort out whether they are Australian citizens.

Hi, I'm new to the site and looking to get my first Prado after having being in a Pajero for the last 6 years and a Patrol before that. I'm also looking at a GXL with leather but in a manual. By all reports the diff lock and other safety gear (Toyota Safety Sense) is only available with an auto? Why would that matter?

From what I understand. Computer is unable to control transmission if it is Manual. I might be wrong though.

                • Saw the local dealer today. Stock is in tomorrow. He may as well have said that they (and Toyota) don't care if I want a manual. 99% sold are auto except the GX to mining companies. He claimed there would be no manual version in all of Vic for me to even test drive. If I wanted to order from the factory they would want a very large deposit in case the sale fell through....

                  • If you want a manual buy a 76 series wagon instead for same price and get the v8.

Regarding that price you haggled to - I was offered a new GXL stock without leather for $62990. Did you have to do anything much to get the cost below that? I have a feeling this is the price most - if not all - people get but would be good to understand other people's experiences. I was considering pushing for nudge bar, front sensors and rubber mats throughout but if I've already done well (on average) to get $62990 it'll be a struggle.

                      • Looks like Toyota haven't properly updated their website. When you go to compare the different grades the pics are updated but the specs are still old with the 4.0l engine still showing.

                        • It seems they have reacted to the market trend and made the rear locker Std from the Gxl up
I guess the GXL has become better value to maybe tackle the rising Everest Trend sales - thow they are still 4-1
I was shocked they still kept faux wood trim on the kak really is unsighly and looks cheap

Dropping KDSS from the VX is a bummer

It is tougher to get a deal on a new car at launch but I have some fool proof tactics that have worked in the past. I work for an engineering company so I use our fleet company to get a quote, I also engage 3 car brokers and then use the 4 quotes as leverage at 3 different dealers. Visit dealers out of the CBD as pricing is sharper. Usually end up with 15-20% off RRP which is better than a kick in the balls

                              • Looks like the GX still has a 5490 GCM, no mention of GCM on other grades but all still show a 2900 GVM and a Kerb weight 10Kgs MORE than current model??
                                Cheers
