I think Hutch’s comment was more as to why would you want a smaller fuel tank/ less range. It’s a great feature and the Prado looks better with the spare wheel on the back then without.Originally posted by Roksy18 View PostI think it’s because the spare wheel is now underneath where one of the fuel tanks was.

The Altitude would be better if it was a lift up door like a normal hatch. Better access in the Westfield carpark and more user friendly as a city taxi car for the mums.New 2015 150s GX 5 seater with floor mats, towbar and a big wish list
Previously a 2004 120s 1KZ GX silver manual with stuff
before that a 1996 RV6 90S with lots of gear

I was told today by a dealer that the VX and Kakadu would only be available with the lift up tailgate from later this year (August?). Wheel on back and larger fuel tank only in the GXL.Originally posted by Reid View PostYep was offered the Altitude style Prado last week. Apparently they can be ordered now, told there will be no altitude model this year just the option of the rear door with spare under floor.

Hi I am looking into getting a VX and my wife was at a dealer and she was told the auto wipers cant be turned off - I assume this is incorrect. Can anyone with a new VX confirm that you can turn off the auto wipers.
The sales guy also told her that she couldnt remove the 3rd row seats, so again I am assuming that he had no idea what he was talking about...
One last question - has anyone seen or purchased the RED - Wildfire colour. I was wondering what it looked like in person - not just in a picture.
Thanks

Regarding the colour id be driving to the local dealership. Most dealers web pages show what vehicles they have on the floor, so you can find one that has the colours you like. Personslly the red is nice but doesnt look right on the 4wd . Interestingly the the peacock black has a green/ blue metal flec over a black base that looks great in the sun.Originally posted by Mushie View PostHi I am looking into getting a VX and my wife was at a dealer and she was told the auto wipers cant be turned off - I assume this is incorrect. I used to have a red 2009 Pajero and loved it. When it came time to buy the Prado, Wildfire was right up there as an option. But it's a little brighter than most reds, and as Pradosaur suggests, just didn't quite look right. I am all for different colours, but had to miss the Red on this one. Glad I did.Originally posted by Mushie View PostHi I am looking into getting a VX and my wife was at a dealer and she was told the auto wipers cant be turned off - I assume this is incorrect. Thanks Morningside, I would have been very surprised if you couldnt. Same goes for the seats, as I have seen a few setups with draws and storage units in their place.Originally posted by Morningside View PostI have a new VX and you can turn the auto wipers off.
also the third row can be removed if you google how to do it ,it's quite involved but can be done.

Thanks CamJam & Pradosaur (great login name), I'll definitely try and find a dealer thats got one before ordering. My wife was saying the same thing about the red - too much on a big car. I have read other comments in here that the peacock looks good, so I'll try and find one of those as well.Originally posted by CamJam View Post

Ive read on forums here previously that removing the seats could potentially affect the cars roadworthy-ness if it was in a crash and would need to be researched and the question asked with the driving authorities to make sure you do not invalidate the insurance or make the car less safe if in a crash. Worth getting an answer from the authorities before you do IMOOriginally posted by Mushie View PostHi I am looking into getting a VX and my wife was at a dealer and she was told the auto wipers cant be turned off - I assume this is incorrect. We currently have a 2011, 200 series cruiser, and want to update. We will only buy Toyota. I'm seriously looking at the latest Prado, but have heard stories about the 2.8lt diesel. Can anyone who has owned a vehicle with this motor comment on how they have found the engine in terms of reliability? We live on a farm, and would need to fit a bullbar and brushbars, so also interested in hearing from owners who have these options fitted.
