If you want a manual buy a 76 series wagon instead for same price and get the v8.

Saw the local dealer today. Stock is in tomorrow. He may as well have said that they (and Toyota) don't care if I want a manual. 99% sold are auto except the GX to mining companies. He claimed there would be no manual version in all of Vic for me to even test drive. If I wanted to order from the factory they would want a very large deposit in case the sale fell through....

From what I understand. Computer is unable to control transmission if it is Manual. I might be wrong though.Originally posted by Kygar View PostHi, I'm new to the site and looking to get my first Prado after having being in a Pajero for the last 6 years and a Patrol before that. I'm also looking at a GXL with leather but in a manual. By all reports the diff lock and other safety gear (Toyota Safety Sense) is only available with an auto? Why would that matter?

Outcome expected soon, but first the pollies just need to sort out whether they are Australian citizens.Originally posted by Desirable4Driving (D4D) View PostSo the government is considering weather or not to raise our fuel quality standards which will increase fuel price which they don't want to do. So it's a good chance we will be Euro 5 for awhile, Euro 6 was originally slated to be mandatory from July 2018. Outcome expected soon. .

I have no idea about Australia but in the UK you cant just fill up a can from the pump/bowser either because the adblue tanks on trucks have a magnetic filler cap so unless you insert the nozzle in the correct filler cap nothing will come out.Originally posted by bretthar View PostFrom what I’ve read running out of adblue is a really big deal as if you run out the car will not start .

From what I’ve read running out of adblue is a really big deal as if you run out the car will not start .Originally posted by Grinbot View PostI hope the new model doesn't have SCR/AdBlue, and I don't think it does because I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. I guess it's probably not something they would do for just a face lift update.
It's nice not to have ~20 L of extra fluid in the car (weight), or worry about keeping it from running empty (not a big issue). One less source of complexity/issues. Everyone wants a cleaner environment, but it's about choosing trade offs. A Yaris would be a much cleaner option than an SCR-fitted Prado :-).
Good info about SCR/AdBlue here: https://practicalmotoring.com.au/4x4...reduction-scr/

Okay thanks, it was my misunderstanding; I thought Euro 5 required DPF and SCR but it’s only DPF. Euro 6 demands SCR. I’ve no problem with the government implementing SCR, from what I’ve read it seems like an effective solution to reduce nitrogen pollution with no obvious loss of power or performance. One more thing to break, however, and of course you could get caught with your pants down if the DEF runs out in the middle of nowhere.

Euro 6 is being debated in parliament currently. Car manufacturers are saying its impossible to meet in Australia with our poor quality fuel. So the government is considering weather or not to raise our fuel quality standards which will increase fuel price which they don't want to do. So it's a good chance we will be Euro 5 for awhile, Euro 6 was originally slated to be mandatory from July 2018. Outcome expected soon. On another note LCT is being discussed to be abolished too along with the FTA with Europe. LCT was originally designed to hurt European vehicles the most to aid Australian built vehicles which are now extinct.
