  • Floppy shift lever

    Gday All.

I know this has been covered in another thread and it had some great pics for me to follow (cheers amts) but I was wondering if anyone could tell this noob how detrimental it is to drive with the dodgy gearshift like it is? mine went two days ago and the missus is still driving it (needs it for the kids run). The reason I ask is that I'll pull it apart in the next day or two to see if the housing is broken or if the bullet in the housing is missing. But is the housing is broken then it looks like I'm up for a new assy? That will take a bit to organize.., so yeah just wondering how bad that will be. My wife has a horse comp coming as well so she will need it for towing so I'm assuming I want to get it done before then?

    Anyway cheers for helping

Not detrimental but annoying as you have to lock out D when towing.

Only a very small percentage has a split collar. But with the split and the repair kit installed, the shifter works fine again. For this reason, it is better to apply the repair kit before any breakages occur as a preventative measure.

Cheers for that mate. Any link for the repair kit or where to find it? The old link didn't seem to work. I pulled mine apart and the collar is cracked and a bit is missing, so I made a new bullet (longer) cut the spring down a bit so the bullet sits lower in the housing and works a treat!...so far..but it would be good to order one anyway.

      Cheers
