  • Interior Cleaning

    Hi Guys,
I was reading one of the WA trip reports and Meguires interior cleaner was mentioned. Is this used for all dash/door trim vinyl and velour seat fabrics. I quite like the flat sheen to the dash and top of the door trims and don't want the gloss type finish if one was to use armourall or similar.
Also with the privacy tint on the 120 series is this a film like window tint or is the actual glass tinted. I want to use the correct product to clean the inside of the windows and you never use to be able to use window cleaner on window tint but I don't know if the tint today is able to handle window cleaner.

Has anyone else got any tips or recommendations of products for general cleaning on the interior.

    Thanks.

That sounds a pretty fair deal for 6 hours work, I'll just have to clear it with the guys at the dealership first :P

        Hey just on that Matt

What McGuires product is best for getting faint scratches out of paintwork, you know from scrapes from vegetation on narrow tracks?

                Tyre sheen is shite!

When I took delivery of my new Prado the dealer had sprayed this awfull stuff all over the tyres to make them look shiney and black. Only problem was, the over-spray left black spots on the side-steps and on the alloy rims.

When I get my car serviced I state: "Spend the time that you would have put into making my tyres shiney on my actual SERVICING needs."

With that black shite, as soon as you drive away it gets coated in dust. And, after a while, your rubber starts to go brown.

I only ever use a wet chamois to clean inside the windows. Occasionally, the front windscreen gets some windex to take away the build-up residue that appears to come from my solar - sunscreen.

If the kids or older passengers are leaving sticky finger prints on the inside of the windows then kick 'em out.

Warm, soapy water takes care of most of the interior cleaning needs.

Could not agree more with Bushbasher on that tyre shite stuff that dealers and some mechanics use. They used to put it on my tyres. Stand in the open second row door to get something or dog out of second row seating and its goodbye shorts. Or take it on the beach and sand sticks to it like the proverbial blanket.

All this when So Easy can be just sprayed on in seconds, for a better look. It must be some sort of home made concoction that grandma used to make. :?:

Have used some Eagle 1 products and found them very good. I too would like to know the answer to the cleaning of the privacy glass mentioned above. Is it a film or dark glass :?:

Had the Ming paint treatment when new. Only just found out a year later that there is a product called Ming Finish Renewer which can be used every six months. (Got mine from Motor One at Wynnum, for any Brissies.)

                    Hi all,

Just came back from the Auto after market expo held in Darling Harbor and I was presented with a unique and interesting design of a car-bin which I was promised it will be on the shelves very soon... it should keep the car clean at all times... have a look

Hey Matt, How does this stuff go with tinted windows? My understanding was that you only ever use straight water (no detergents or sprays) on tinted windows as they will loosen the contact and possibly bubble

                          Re: Interior Cleaning

I agree with Matt that the Meguiars stuff is pretty darn good - the window cleaner is especially good. I've been using it for a while. Doesn't seem to have any adverse affects on tint or the privacy glass.

The interior cleaner is good on the dash - and non-shiny, unlike bloody Armor-All. When we go away, I take some of the Meguiars interior wipes. Their leather wipes is also a quick and dirty way of keeping the leather supple.

don't use scratch x! it scratches!!!!!!!!!! its ok on solids but not clear coats
try meguiars fine scratch remover no 2. or contact a local detailing supplier for even better products.
imo, meguiars stuff is middle of the road quality. there is so much more suitable (and cheaper) products out there. just gotta look past autobarn and super cheap!

Use any normal window cleaner on window tint it should not hurt it
If it does then the film is just shit and not worth having on your car anyhow.
I clean windows 10 mins after installing the film and have never had a problem.
                              regards Stewy
