Ratchey jockey wheels any use ?

Hey , im about to buy a Jayco Hawk or Eagle . I live on the side of a hill and have a back area for storing the camper. I have had experience of my back area with a 1000kg Kimberley , im thinking one of these ratchet jockeys will solve my problem .

I only need to turn it aroung on concrete and back it up a very gentle slope.

Hi alternative,

Grass or concrete slope? Loaded up it will be heavier than the KK, and I would not have thought the ratchet jockey wheels would have had enough traction to push it back. My understanding is they are more for manoeuvring sideways / turning. .....and yes, ask the question on http://www.myswag.org its a great forum

My mate uses his ride-on mower with tow attachment on the back to move the trailer/s around the yard.
guess it depends whether you can justify a ride-on for the mowing.
i'm thinking of setting up a tow hitch on my ride-on.

I have 1 of these on a camper trailer and find that it is ok on the flat but it it isn't much chop on a slope. Also if on grass then it has a tendency to slip a lot more as well. Also you need to take into account that when you have it in ratchet mode it can be a pain to maneuver under certain circumstances if you hit a bit of a sharp turn or going down a minor slope.

Hey guys , its a concrete slope , very gentle .... just enough to be too hard for one person to put the KK into its parking position .

Im thinking if i go for a decent one it might do the job.

I bought a Maco Mule dual wheel ratchet for my 20 foot Roadstar to manouvre it into the shed up a very slight concrete slope from a level drive. Found it spins on the hard gravel drive but that's a weight thing I guess. I now drive the van into the shed with my Prado until the jockey wheel just gets on the concrete shed floor and then the wheel works great to pull, push and manouvre the van. I manouvre my Prado around the van to get it out. A bit tight but it works.
