Melville or City Toyota for servicing in Perth.

Any thought or experiences to share regarding these two dealers for servicing.

I used to use Melville for my old 4wd, never tried City Toyota. Turns out Melville's courtesy bus doesn't travel more than about ---km from the dealer (I'll have to walk the last 900 meters). So I thought I would see what other options I have. City Toyota is the only other one close to my work, Prosser Toyota is closer to home, but less convenient for me.

Note from admin: This post contained some incorrect information. Under notice from Melville Toyota, the distance the courtesy bus will travel is up to 13 km from the dealership.

Why would you not go to a local mechanic near your work , not the likes of Auto Masters or Ultatune as all they do is " upsell " and only do log book services , never check vehicle properly but try an independent mechanic at the end of the day if they use genuine service items and the specfied fluids the vehicle warranty wont void .

I have the service advantage option at Toyota, so service prices are fixed at $210.

I have used Melville in the past with previous vehicles and been pretty happy. If you ask the courtesy bus driver to go the extra 900 metres I`m sure they`d probably come thru.
Prado is coming up for the 80k service so will probably end up back at Melville for that one too. I dont have the same deal with fixed prices so I may even try Murray at Total Landcruiser Care (TLC) in Oconnor, had the hilux in there a couple of times and been very happy with service, both mechanical and customer!!

Fair call . I mite have to one day get me self a new one so I can know about these things .
It is probably obvious I have no dealings with dealships so my imput was not of any good . Sorry can not help .

Your input is still good an appreciated fishfinder. If it wasn't for the service advantage then local mechanics are definitely an option and something I will consider when the warranty expires.

I tried my best but there was no swaying the bus driver. I had to walk.

Turns out they are short on drivers due to Fremantle servicing closing. With all the business they are getting (I even had to park on the lawn out the front as there was no parking) they could afford an extra driver or two.

I've been really disappointed by Melville Toyota.

They didn't install a genuine Toyota towbar on the car when i bought it from there new, despite it apparently being "company policy" to do so, but i can't get an explanation as to why not. My hazard lights not working with trailer connected problem (which is documented by PP - i think due to flasher can overload from bullbar indicator lights also) has been ignored despite 2 attempts to have it resolved, i gave them 2 weeks notice prior to last service and told them a door seal needed to be replaced but on the day i was told "it has to come ex-eastern states so it couldn't be done"

They seem quite happy to take the $180 to do an oil change, but anything over that is too hard - i wouldn't recomend them, and i definately won't be going back there.
