if you are at a campsite with a water connection no power is needed. The higher the pressure and finer the mist the more flash evaporation occurs and the cooler layer of air you have.

A 12 volt pump maybe powered by a solar panel? Don't know but misters don't use a great deal of water. Go to Arizona in the summer and they are everwhere. Go to golf course in the southern USA and the golf carts have them.

They also keep the bugs away....I am starting to talk myself into looking into this

      They do make a difference.
We were at an open air sports bar in Hawaii recently and all the ceiling fans had misters in front of them... was surprised how much water was used but didn't wet the people under them.
      Cheers, Leon

I've not been to Hawaii, but I have been to Arizona and the Southern US and most of the places I've seen these used were in dry regions, I didn't see any in San Diego for example which is on the coast and quite humid which is what surprised me about Hawaii.

We used to live in Canberra and evaporative coolers and misters worked there in the Summer months, now we are in Qld and during the Summer they are worse than useless, too much humidity in the air already.

Just saying that these things sort of depend on the weather conditions, although I would love some feedback from the north.

I store a blow up wading pool in the camper and if in caravan park or have access to water I throw the kids in that that just before they go to bed . Then I jump in it and park the esky right next to it

We just spent a week down at Woody Head camping. We bought the Coleman battery operated fan, which seemed to give a good breeze. It uses 6 D cell batteries, which can get a little pricey, but the running time we got out of it was probably about 25 hrs on low.
