  • Vacuum Bag Sealer

    I require some help please.
I was given a vacuum bag sealer but the person couldn't locate the operators manual.
It is branded Salton and the model number appears to be 1101.

Would anyone out there in PP land have one of these babies and be able to scan and post/email the instructions. Also where would the best place be to get bag refills and after a quick look on ebay are all the bags the same. Thanks.

    Re: Vacuum Bag Sealer

Not all bags are the same, but your local Harvey Norman would have some Sunbeam ones to try.

Usually, you put the items to vacbag in the bag, put the end of the bag in the slot, close the device and hit the go button. Some are auto, some are manual operation. For manual operation, you hit the vac button until all the air is well sucked out, than hit the seal button. Trial and error should get it for you without a manual.

Watch foods with liquids like steak. If the liquid passes the heat seal area, the resulting heat seal is usually suspect. Sometimes putting the meat on a paper towel is enough to prevent this from happening - butchers use a special absorbent towel and a high heat sealer to solve the problem.

      Re: Vacuum Bag Sealer

      Hi Michael,
thanks for the reply. There is about half a roll left in the machine and I was just playing around with it and can get the machine to seal and cut but not vacuum. If you press down half way on the lid the vacuum operates and then press down all the way it seals and cuts. As I said the vacuum operates (makes noise) but doesn't appear to be sucking. Maybe I am not using it correctly??? Also the roll of bag currently in the machine is open down one side so it appears you have to manually pull out how much bag you want and seal/cut it which then gives three sealed sides. You would then place your items in the bag you just made and place the open end back into the machine over this small plastic tee behind the wire element to vacuum out.

I'll keep trying and may have to dismantle to check out the vacuum plumbing.
