  • Engel Fridge Base

My old 40 l engel is about to get a workout on CSR in June. It is sitting on a genuine sprung base, fitted after 10,000 km of corrugations shook something loose. I t survived the Cape with this spring base. My question is this: are these sprung bases necessary or still used? OR, can I fit it into a fridge slide OR am I better to chuck the base which, to my way of thinking makes the fridge move even more. Thoughts????? Neil

    Re: Engel Fridge Base

The spring base is supposed to remove the impact shock from the fridge. It'll still move, but
will 'wobble' rather than take a 'hit'.

That being said, I've had mine strapped down direct to a fridge slide or platform/floor in my Prado
and now 79 series, and never had any issues with the Engel. That includes trips through the Kimberly,
Pilbara, CSR, Red Centre, Top End, North Qld, etc.

Personally I don't think the sprung base is necessary.
