HI ALL.Building front stone guard more so sand guard for the c.t. at the moment frame is no problem but I was just wondering what you guys have found best for covering it. I do alot of sand driving.I was thinking along the lines of shade cloth.Any thoughts anyone. CHEERS TINKERA.

HI Prado BB. HEY Prado BB great site that, looks like shade cloths the go. Here is a photo of the "stone" guard that was on my Trakshak. It was just a heavy shade cloth material. Drove along the Birdsville track through muddy wash outs and did not have too much go through it. Not quite sure how it would stack up against sand. Probably look for one that has a nice tight weave.

HEY Big Fella.Just looking at your photo you can see where the tryers are throwing up the mud and caking well that is what is happening to the front of my camper only difference it is sand saltwater mix not good.To be honest it,s not going to stop it all but it is going to help. Maybe the Vinyl they make curtain side truck bodies from?? This doesn't breathe, but not sure how much air would go through shade cloth at 100ks.
Not sure what side of town your on, but I have dealt with Boomerang canvas, very good, they made a 7x6m vinyl sunsail for me, and this stuff is tough, I had the wind loosen one of the turnbuckles, and the sail filled with water, must have been at least 1000l of water in it, smashed the concrete around 2 of the post, but no damage to the vinyl. The surface is very smooth so hopefully the sand won't stick.

Mine had shade cloth and it worked pretty well in a couple of trips to central australia. After a few years it started getting holes in, but easy to replace. Mine was a bit like Big Felles trakshack one up further, but the outside quarters were swept back a bit, so that any stones thrown up by tyres were diverted out rather than meeting somthing head on. This would make the shade cloth last longer I would have thought. Looking in the side view mirror, it was amazing how many stones were bouncing off and out on the stoney roads.
