2 weeks of Mid September where to go?

Hi all

Got some holidays coming up in September, yes I know its a long way off, so I am looking for some suggestions of where to go. I really wanted to head off to the Vic High Country but in checking the web it looks like lots of tracks may be closed and its damn cold that time of year.
So I am looking for something similar, not a big fan of desert tracks at this stage.
I will be travelling with 2 kids (4 and 6) so would like to be some where the kids can get out and run around on some grass and kick the ball around etc. Don't mind staying in 1 place and doing day trips or moving camp every couple of days.

So throw your ideas at me and help me find somewhere nice to go with my family.

If you can wait until the end of September.... you shouldn't go past the 2010 Pradopoint GTG

Damn sorry guys I am in the northern subarbs of Adelaide out near Gawler.

Dates are locked in from 10th September for 2 weeks. Its real hard for my wofe to get time off work and they are the only dates she could get.

Heaps of spots in the Flinders Ranges. We also had a ball the last time we travelled around the Eyre Peninsular too.

I second the Flinders. Great places to stay and see and in September it will be warm(ish) and at the end of winter so it will be green. I would recommend checking out Aroona Valley. Felt I grew up in the place the number of times we went camping there. The only downside is you don't have facilities but there is alwsy the bush.

Consider Wyperfeld NP, just over the border in Victoria.
We will probably be there ourselves in the September school hols.
We base camp at the main Wonga campground is huge and very grassy. Usually not too crowded either.
It can still be cold that time of year, but a good campfire solves that.
Beautiful sunsets and landscapes, wildflowers are in season (hopefully), some mild sand driving but some interesting places to visit.

As for the High Country, there's really nothing like it. There will be enough tracks open to keep you well occupied. And once again a good fire solves the cold problem . One of the best times of the year to visit it IMHO - and best of all, no flies.

Coffin bay on the Eyre peninsular is a great place to base yourself for a couple of weeks.
You can explore the National parks systems of the Eyre and visit some great townships in the region.

You could contact Mick and see if he has firmed up the dates for his trip up to Hay River.
