E-tag mounting 2018 GXL - over dots?

My Jan 2018 build new GXL has a black dot/mesh effect over quite a large area on either side of the big box (camera?) that the mirror is mounted on at the centre top of the windscreen. Can I mount my NSW toll e-tag on the black dotted area (behind the mirror from the driver view) or should it be mounted below the black-dotted area on the clear glass? The dealer service people said mount it on the black dots but didn't seem very sure about it.

Best is to mount it temporary to test it. Some black dots and tinted section do affect the signal. Some dont.

Never had a problem mounting on the dots.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up putting it right out of driver's sight behind the mirror - which was partly on the dots and partly on clear glass. Just went over the Harbour Bridge and it worked fine.
