Re: car regoed as import
Got a pic of your complience plate?
Imports (In SA and I assume nationally) get new complience plates fitted and they also get a second plate to say the vehicles meets ADR's
Dead give aways to being an import are if it's a SWB (Short wheel base) or has a small mirror on the front passenger fender.

Re: car regoed as import
Of course it's a bloody import - the bastards are made in Japan! (Comlianced for use in Oz). Everything that arrives on those big boats is an import. Pajeros, Patrols, Prados, Passats, Pontiacs, Peugeots, Plymouths, Porsches, Pulsars.
I remember some years ago when you would see a Toyota - such as a Crown - that would be advertised as "Luxury Import". That is, unlike some of the models that were assembled in Australia, it was 100% imported as is and no additional work was done to it before being sold in Australia.
Nowadays, there isn't much available in the home grown department so there really is no point advertising something as being imported.
Sounds to me like a glitch with the person filling out the rego papers.Dave

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

In this case the reference is to "Grey Import"; brought into the country secondhand and regod as such.
