Hi all. So I recently bought a 1998 prado. It had a full engine rebuild about 60,000km ago. It is not with me it is with my partner a long way away. It is turning over but will not fire. It has a new battery. From photos sent i believe leads look to be in good condition. I believe coil packs were renewed at the same time as engine rebuild. I had her check the air filter and intake pipes. All are very clean. What are the typical reasons for this in these vehicles and how do i test for each?

I would imagine there are quite a few reasons why this may happen , but when it gets to this point one should go to the basics . first compression, then fuel then spark , and then timing.
i had a similar issue with an xtrail quite a while back , had it towed the auto electrician cuz i thought it was a failure with the anti theft system . it resulted in being the timing sensor to the fly wheel .
If the anti theft in your key fails it will have the same result as the timing sensor.. ...
