How to Use Search Function

Is there something written about the best way to find information on any of the Forums? Couldn't find anything on a look around any of the areas that might have something available.

I've tried several ways to search for threads that I know are available somewhere on the site but can't find them. Putting the complete thread title just brings up random links to one or more words in the search string but doesn't find the correct thread. Haven't had too much success with the advanced search either.

Has anyone got some hints on how to search successfully?

Perhaps something about how to use the search function should be made a sticky.

The best way I’ve found is to google what you are looking for, I.e Prado 120 D4D change fan belt and then the responses I get from google I look at, I’ve tried a few different methods to search on here and no luck.

Use google with the following notation to narrow down to Pradopoint only:

site: 'website' 'search term here'

eg. site: pradopoint.com suspension

combine search terms using quotes for more specific results site: pradopoint.com "2nd fuel filter"

Thanks for the reply's so far, but haven't heard from anyone on using the forum search function correctly.

I've found that searching since the forum was upgraded has been a lot less functional & more restrictive than previously. Can this be improved at all or are we stuck with an essentially useless system of searching?
Are there some search terms that might help?

Would love to hear from one of you technically minded people responsible for the forum on what our options for searching are & if it can be improved from the way it is currently.

Don't bother with the inbuilt search - google is always quicker especially using the method Tourer777 said.
The forum has many issues especially since the "upgrade" and doesn't seem like much is being done to resolve it (see the thread about forum problems etc)
