Just wondering if the sat nav units out of 200 ser, Corollas, Camrys , GXL Prados etc will fit straight into a 2016 GX Prado and function properly? Anyone got one- probably someone who has upgraded to a much better unit?

Sorry I have no experience of fitting a head unit from another Toyota, the reason is because a genuine Toyota unit from any source would still have the same restrictions and out of date maps that the Prado one has.
You are probably fed up with hearing me moaning about the GPS that Toyota expects us to be happy with but I cannot understand how they get away with supplying such a unit. No car play or android auto, two year old maps in brand new vehicles etc. I have been delighted with my decision to fit a 10 inch screen android powered Chinese one, everything that an android device will do, so will this head unit. Why anyone would want a windows CE powered standard unit amazes me. I hope that I have not offended you or anyone else by posting this but that is exactly how I feel.

Late 2015 so unfortunately it has the older style head unit, hopefully it wont be too long before the Chinese release a unit to fit in later vehicles like yours.
I have attached a picture (hot off the press) so you can see what I mean, also will be nice to see if the photo uploading function of the forum is working again.
Edit had to reduce the size dramatically before it would upload so the picture quality is much better than on the photo.
2nd Edit I tried to remove this picture to attempt to upload the best size and therefore quality allowed but the "remove" feature does not work.
I think the largest picture allowed if I have remembered correctly is only 97Kb I can understand wanting to limit bandwidth but isn't this tiny? I will ask in the trouble shooting thread.1 PhotoLast edited by JohnLynn; 06-11-2018, 04:52 PM.
