Hi I have a 2015 Diesel prado ive had for about a month.
It's got lots of extras like lift kit , bull bar , winch , spotties , good springs and shocks , lockers , diff breathers , cb , fuel mapper , dual batts , anderson plugs.
It has an aftermarket android screen that the previous owner fitted and thats what I am having trouble with.


There is a dash cam that's near the mirror and it can be viewed on the screen
the problem is it resets the recording every 3 minutes and the date is 2015 on the screen
I have changed the settings using the buttons on the camera unit but it just defaults back to standard 3 min and 2015 date after stopping the car .
there is an another video app in the screen which when opened says camera not found !
Also I have not been able to view any recordings as its like the cameras relationship with the screen is limited to live viewing and that's it !
I have not tried removing the SD card and putting it in my computer because I feel you shouldn't need to do that and that as they are connected together you would think it would be possible to view it on the screen.
I don't understand what the go is with it it's weird that it resets like the power is not present for it to maintain memory when you turn off the car .
Anyone got one of these screens ?

Also what series will my car be?

Could you post a bit more information about the camera and the android head unit. Photos would be great.
I have something very similar although I never bother to use the camera on the screen. Does the camera have any led underneath it? mine has a flashing blue led which shows that the camera has a wifi signal that a phone or whatever could be connected to. I think the idea is that if you have the patience you can download the contents of the sd card without taking it out.
I usually just remove the card from my camera every now and then and copy the recordings, which are quite good quality. New recordings just overwrite as usual with dash cams.
I can check the menus of my camera if there is anything you want to query to see if it is the same as your model.

Hi Jeff, our cameras don't look the same, mine is almost hidden behind the mirror. However I assume they must work in a similar way so I had a look at mine to refresh my memory about how it works. The app on the head unit is just labelled DVR, a few screen presses reveals the menu, then you can highlight items and change each one by using "soft" keys at the bottom of the screen. The menu that seems most relevant to your issue would be "loop recording" on mine there are options for changing the loop time from "off, 1, 3, 5 and 10 minutes" I have mine on 10 minutes and use a 32Gb card.
Edit Be careful if you do take out the micro SD card as I once had my card ping out and I lost it, I ended up having to remove the whole centre console to get it back.
