  • Roof Bag for the ARB Rook Rack

    Hi Team

Chasing a bag for the ARB roof rack. Was looking at the southern cross bag. My question. if you have an ARB rack for the prado, what size bag do you use? I want a decent size bag but still want a bit of room for ods and sods.

    Thanks

Depends on what you are sticking up top and what the longest piece of kit it is. I like the SC ones as well and I am going to order one once I have the MOF approval...I do not have the ARB rack ut us smaller in width and SC said not a problem they would make it what ever size I wanted with in reason. Very nice to talk to and quick response to questions. my 2c's

Well, I have a different rack, but perhaps that doesn't matter for the question...

I use a bag that fits about half of my rack. That leaves the other half for all the things that should not go in the bag (MAXTRAX, 2nd spare, firewood, gas bottle, etc).

For maximum versatility, I'd stay away from a full-size bag, and instead choose two half-size bags. A friend had that configuration, and it allowed him to better organise his gear, and for small trips, easily fit everything in just one bag.

      Cheers,
      LFaR.

I have a MSA 1500 * 1200 on my 2200 long roof rack. This leaves a bit of space all the hard stuff ie kids bikes or scooters or jerry cans or fire wood or i could even squeeze in a spare wheel.I don't think i would want it any bigger,be too hard to handle. You can fit in a hell of a lot in this bag. 5 camp mats, 5 sleeping bags, 1 large tent, 5 fold up chairs, 5 pillows, bag of shade cloth, 8 eva foam squares, 1 cricket set, 2 footballs plus there is still room in there for more. How do i know , because i,m currently loading up for the family trip to QLD and Fraser Is. In fact i put so much in i've had to pull half back out so i can get out under the garage door, doh.
