Kizbot that test reinforced my comment.
The Prado transmission makes the car feel more than adequate around town and at moderate speeds.
Try to keep up with traffic at highway speeds and it's not going to happen.
No one likes to drive with the vehicle constantly on the limit. Back off for a moment and road speed vanishes.
Would have liked to see his instruments when he was overtaken by the truck and mentioned he had it flat to the floor. What gear and rpm.
Also the outside temp was a balmy 28 deg C. Push her in real Aussie temps of 38+ and the performance will drop considerably.

Yeah I thought the video complimented your previous post nicely.

Thanks for the feedback everyone much appreciated, disappointingly I will have to rule the Prado out purely based on it's underpowered motor
It's a crying shame that Toyota put such a crap motor in what could be a great vehicle what the hell are they thinking not sure what to look at now really I had my heart set on a Prado hmm back to square one
Definately appreciated the honest feedback so thanks again, this group is the polar opposite to the 200 series guys refuse to pull their head out of the sand I always buy a vehicle on its merits and I am definitely not brand bias (well to an extent not interested in ssanyong etc)

        Cheers

The trouble is, there is not much choice in vehicles that have an engine between the 4 Cylinder and the V8's. If some-one made a v6 say 3.4l, in a diesel 4wd then I reckon quite a few people would buy those.

The only ones I can think that come close are utes (Amarok and the 3.2l Ford Ranger).

          Cheers,
          Mal

Nissan has a V6 turbo diesel, not particularly reliable from talking with owners.
VW also has a V6 turbo diesel, very quick beast.

Just been looking at the Touareg's spec's they actually stack up really nicely, not what I consider to be a real 4WD but to be honest its wading depth and no low range are the only things that let it down in that respect and I am guessing bugger all 4wd accessory's would available but its not that sort of vehicle, well worth a look for my requirements
