Ouch ..... now there's another advantage to having a winch cradle sitting behind a sovereign bar

Not mine and ARB bars usually no damage with just a roo.

What's the cost of replacing one of these bars?
I looked at a car, where the bar wasnt sitting exactly square - bit higher on one side than the other, and one of the side poles was a bit loose, so probably hit something at some stage.

rallye 2000 spots, roof mount dvd, dig_options stereo, toyota roof bars.
          More to come!

I think these are going for about $2500 roughly. A proper steel bar from ARB is a lot less and gives better clearance than the Toyo one.

              Thanks.
Might try and negotiate that cost out of the purchase price,
then go see my mate at ARB afterwards.

I wrote mine off as well.
The problem is that Toyota cannot supply a replacement bar untill December. AAMI paid me out $2420 plus install costs of the new bar which I ordered from ARB. The happened a month ago and I'm still waiting to be back on the road again. Latest date is end of July.

Are you off the road because of the lack of supply of a bullbar? Can you put back the original bumper to get you out of trouble? Maybe source one from ebay?

Yes i'm grounded due to lack of supply. I am on the look out for an interim standard bumper but don't want to spend money on the bumper or the fitment.

Try ARB or TJM for a discarded one. Dosn't have to be the same colour to get you mobile for a period of time.

Re: Roo Damage to Soverign Bar

I think that bar stood up fairly well considering the speed at impact. ARB TJM or similar bars will all sustain damage hitting a grown roo at those sort of speeds.
Been there and done that more than once before. Hit a big bush pig once too. Now those buggers do a lot of damage!

I am wondering if the airbags deployed after this impact.
Have only ever hit one roo, by accident! The bloody hilux bonnet flipped up and hit the windscreen, could not see Sh#t.

Re: Roo Damage to Soverign Bar

I was sitting in the passenger seat of our rodeo a few years ago when the missus hit a roo at 110km/hr, the Rodeo had a Gitsham alloy roobar, the impact was sraight on the number plate and the damage was far worse than the picture above. The bar was pushed back 10 inches and wrapped up around the bonnet which was buckled up about a foot both headlights smashed but still drivable, just, we were on our way to stay at the Hyatt for our 10th wedding aniversary. Interesting look from the guy at the valet parking. two days after i picked up the rodeo from the crash shop after the repairs i was back again with our camry after the missus cleaned up another one, then six months later camry again, another roo and yes the missus again.

And she wonders why i dont want her driving the Prado

                            Cheers Andrew

The problem with ARB isnt the supply usually, its the paint shop queue. Try finding someone to powdercoat or 2 Pac the bar for you and you can probably get it a lot sooner. I managed to save 3 weeks on the delivery of my bar just by get it sprayed myself.
