Re: 4wd association show in August-Sydney

Went down to the show today and enjoyed it. I think it will be packed over the weekend. Don't go with any thoughts of it being like Rosehill, you will be disappointed. There were plenty of people who knew what they were talking about, and didn't fob me off for being a girl . I think it can only grow and get better every year, without becoming a show for black top touring. It was great to see so many clubs there as well. For those of you going over the weekend, GATE 16 is the one you want.

And...I had my iPhone ready and got photos of 2 fellow PradoPointers cars, they appear in the "Spotted" section
'07 D4D Prado GXL - Black, Auto, Reverse Sensors, Towbar, ARB Colour Coded Bullbar, Lightforce 240 Blitz, Dual Batteries, Safari Snorkel, BFG AT's, ORS drawer system with fridge slide, 40L Engel Fridge, Sandgrabba Mats, Black Duck Canvas Seat Covers, TrekTable, Bilstein premium suspension and polyairs, iCom UHF.

Re: 4wd association show in August-Sydney

Managed to get to the show on the Saturday afternoon.
(The missus saw it marked on the calender, & insisted it was Saturday or she couldn't go. Who am I to argue if she shows an interested.)

Lots of clubs stands, together with a fair number of known (& some previously unknown) retailers.
Unfortunately no bargain "show prices" among the items on my list, although that may have been different on Sunday.

I expect the show probably past muster for a first event.
Had a great drool wandering through the carpark, but cannot report any (other) PP stickers.

She who must be obeyed found the next upgrade for the Camper Trailer.
(Was anyone else unable to keep the boss away from the Imagine C/T with the internal bathroom (retail $48k))
D4D (150 Series) GXL Manual in Silver Pearl,ARB Bullbar, Dual Battery, Towbar, Anderson Aux. Power to Towbar, ABR Sidewinder Compressor, ABR Battery Monitor, Lightforce Driving Lights, ProRack xTreme Roof Bars, PP sticker, (mudflap upgrade now on order)
Intended Use: Touring with Comp. Tinnie (Camper Trailer now for sale)

Re: 4wd association show in August-Sydney

Good to catch up with Andy today (Prado BB) and yes I ended up buying the fridge. A 60L waeco knockoff for $749.00 inc an insulated cover.

Good to see a lot of CT's as that is the main reason we went. It was rather difficult to check them out in great detail as the kids got restless rather easily so that limited time at each stand. But I was able to get some brochures and info that will allow me to go away and compare on paper each brand. Another thing I can do is go to their showroom/factories and spend more time with less people around and be better educated on what to look for after todays reccie.

Overall the show was pretty good so I think it shoulfd be bigger and better next year. One thing that was surprising was the lack of camp cookware type retailers. I only recall seeing one major type display. To compare it to Rosehill, well it was the same but different if that makes sense.

I think it went well for the first time, plenty of prado's in car park

As a club member I think this was good for the industry and clubs in general

The masters 4x4 event was also on Sunday so it was best of both worlds
...If its not on all 4's it's not on.....

We went out today for a look around, lots of prado's but didn't see any pradopoint stickers. There was a lot more stalls than I thought there would of been which was good, before we went I was checking out a mates matson battery monitor which shows volts and ambient temp. I managed to find one over there for $40 which is what the mate paid at rosehill so I was happy with that ( the bloke said normally $90). And brought a few little nick nacks for the camper trailer. The missus was checking out the camper trailers and said she wouldn't mind updating in a few years to a full off road as ours in only semi offroad. The old legs are so but after wondering around there for about 4 hrs. There Penrith show is on the 10th sept I think but we will be out west that weekend, can't wait for next years show as it was a success this year and may attract more stalls next year.

Likewise Mark, that fridge sounded like a good deal, so glad you bit the bullet. I agree withwhat you said about the show. My only concern would be the weather with 95% of the exhibitors outside. Again I found that most stalls would not budge on the retail price. A good bargain was the Honda generators - 20i @ $1,700, no I wasn't allowed to buy one.

Re: 4wd association show in August-Sydney

                  G'day all,

I went on Saturday and thought it was good for a first show of this type. I have been to Rosehill but this show was better for my mind. I managed to get a ride in the shorty 150 Prado on the track which was good. I purchased a set of driving lights, a tyre repair kit and an equiliser strap - I was under the budget the MInister for Finance set!! Brownie points for me!

Hope everyone else who went had a good time. I did plenty of drooling over the Prados in the car park and managed to get a few ideas for mine.

                  cheers

                  Bundy made me do it!

                    Hi All

We went on Sunday afternoon from 2pm and it was good. Spent the first hour in the ARB stall, then after that found a lot of the exhibitors packing up (particularly towards the edges)?? Didnt buy anything but got quotes around $4000 which included discounts as a show special from ARB that they will hold for me - cars 3 days old didnt want to rush!

As said by others I think it will get bigger and better each year.

                    Kind Regards

We were there on Saturday and it was good. It had everything I would normally look at. Rosehill is too big and it can be difficult to find what you need. The best stall was the car park. I saw some excellent rigs there.

I was there both Saturday and sunday..The driver training track has lots of potential.the show itself in my opinion has lots more potential but for the 1st time run i believe very well done.

Spent all day Sunday there and thought it was great for an inaugural event. Can only get bigger.
Bought just a few things till the plastic recovers. Caught up with PradoBB. (See you Tue week, Andy.)

We went out today for a look around, lots of prado's but didn't see any pradopoint stickers.
Didn't you see mine, 2003GXL. I've already been "spotted" there.
