Winch size

I can pick up an Iron man 13000kb winch for $300 of a mate that hasn't used it yet. Been sitting in shed for a couple years.
First is 13000lb weigh more then a 9000lb or is it just motor strength. Am i better of just buying New. I don't go out of my way to find places that I may get stuck. It's a pure. Just in case thing.

I have a 12,000lb winch and its 32kg with rope not cable. If your mates winch has cable it will be quite a bit more.

32 KG is heavy. My carbon 12k winch with plasma rope is under 20 Kilo!

Yep, big difference.
I would guess budget would have bearing on the difference?

Carbon 12k is under $950. seems to be around the average price of the better winches.

They get good reviews, and 20kg is great.
