  • New Rim and Tyre

Hi guys, I am planning to get a new set of 17inch rim for my 2016 VX.

The rim I want is 17x9 with +18, is 9inch too big for 265/70 17?

Will there be any rubbing with this wheel n tyre combo?

    Thanks

    Hi Aaron,
For whats its worth my local Goodyear store said that size rim is to big for that size tyre. I was going down the same path as you. There are plenty of charts on the net to show you what can go with what. Quick and easy way is to speak to a reputable tyre shop. They won't risk their business fitting something that is dangerous.

Just an update on my new rim and tyre, contacted a few tyre shops around Adelaide, got told by one shop manager it is illegal to downsize to 17 inch as my placard says 18inch. Contacted my insurance and transport department, got told it's legal...

Anyway, got the job done yesterday at local bob jane. Tyres fit perfect... no drama so far. However, they only gave me 4 centre caps even though I paid for 5... is this normal?

I am now looking for a spacer for my spare tyre carrier, that'd be great if anyone can give some recommendations.

      Cheers

Standard tyre shop reply. I'm guessing it was Bob Janes. If the car came out with any model having 17's then its legal to reduce size back to that from 18., Ive done it on a number of cars and certified thru the pits.

Nice mate, I looked at Fuel wheels for such a long time but the offsets are crazy and all 9”
from memory the is only like two wheels that could fit on a Prado without sitting outside of the guards. You have one of them.
Could I make a suggestion? Start a build thread so we can all watch it come together.
