I have a 2012 Toyota Prado 3L kdj diesel (90,000 km)and have always syused Castrol 15-40 Diesel oil. I would be interested in finding out wht other people consider the best value for money general engine oil for diesels. SCA have the 10 litre on special at the moment that I normall buy, so am interested in the comments before making my purchase. Brian DJ

Another vote for Castrol Edge 5W-30 engine oil. Being a 2012, your engine doesn't need the C rated version of this engine oil.
Another alternative could be Castrol Magnatec 10W-40, which is currently onsale at Supercheap Auto at the moment. $23.39 for a 5 litre bottle appears to be a good price, especially for more frequent 5000 km oil changes.

It's a semi synthetic formulation, but would be just fine for the motor. Just don't exceed 10,000 kms with this oil, to be on the safe side.
