  • Pillow Track...for someone who has everything?

I did a search and did not see this already posted so if so apologies.

    http://www.pillowtrack.com/

Looks like something to have in conjunction with some Maxtrax. Have my own concerns about it's puncture resistance. They have instructions on how to replace the bladder so obviously proven to burst.

In the photo above a better bar would allow for better aproach angle and my negate the assumed need for such a thing. Secondly look for an alternative if an obsticle can not be negociated easily and if that is not an option use a shovel, along with dropped branches and rocks to perform some road repair and make the obsticle a little easier to pass.

I don't actually see this as such a stupid idea. Those who've used exhaust jacks know they're brilliant in the right situation so why not these? Just because Maxtrax are already on the market doesn't mean these are useless. For some people the bulkiness of maxtrax might be an issue - these take up very little room compared.

Of course they aren't as rigid and possibly not as versatile but then when all know how much more versatile a hand winch is compared to a mounted item and not too many go that route.
I think the biggest problem would be the "what the hell are they" looks. The fact that they have replacement bladders might not be such an issue - they may work just as well not blown up. I've used car seat foam & car bonnets before as tracks (not out of the stuck vehicle, out of the ones that had clearly been stuck for years), they worked fine.

nothing wrong with having just a bit extra. Easier than digging, piling etc.

In the right situation, that would be the right tool..

Its not like we throw the same tool or bit of gear at every obsticle do we.

But would I get one?????? probly not.

Would I be grateful if someone helped be get unstuck or over something by using one???? yes.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

I hear from another thread that Maxtrax is coming out with version 2 which allows the linking of Maxtraxs to form a bridge. (Maybe I'm just propagating a rumour)

They might be able to link together but not to support weight over a void I wouldn't imagine.

But you could always pack them out from underneath with pillow tracks

Re: Pillow Track...for someone who has everything?

                        Hi All,

Pillowtracks aren't supposed to puncture, their bursting pressure is twice that of exhaust jacks! (can hold vehicles up to 4 tonnes)If you're still not convinced, check out this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nED3y1_SHOQ
They also has a five year warranty. You guys are right, Pillowtracks do look a bit unconventional and people are often skeptical at first but then love them. Btw, they can already be joined together for extra length.

So, I guess you need a PPointer to test them out and give some unbiased feedback

Rumors about MAXTRAX? I wonder where they came from.
