  • Running hot under load

I am all out of ideas and need some outside the box thinking.

I have a 120 with the 1KZ turbo diesel. When under load (towing uphill) the temperature steadily rises to the point of shutting down the ac compressor and on the odd occasion triggering the AT HOT lamp. I had this happen yesterday driving up the Toowoomba range without towing and just my family in the car.

I have been chasing this issue for some time and have done the following:
    Added a separate transmission cooler
    Added a separate oil cooler
    Replaced the viscous fan hub
    Bypassed the thermostat
    Added a thermofan (manually operated)

    Any other suggestions?

Have trans filter and fluid changed (And flushed). Add new radiator. Change to Toyota coolant Put thermostat back in.
