  • Height and road tolls

I've just heard that on Sydney motorways, any vehicle over 2.8m high is not classed as a car and gets a higher toll.
i have a bike rack and was not charged extra in November/ December . However I believe those who claim to have been charged extra.
has any one had any experiences?

Correct, Its documented clearly on their page at https://help.linkt.com.au/sydney/art...-vehicle-class

The load on a roof is taken into consideration. It may be that as its a bike and quite thin it wasn't registered by the height sensors at the toll gantries.

Ultimately, Yes, they can charge more if you are over 2.8 mtrs.

    Vehicle length and height

Vehicle dimensions on NSW toll roads include (without limitation) any towed vehicles such as a trailer, caravan or boat, and items placed on the roof of the vehicle or vehicles with elevated roofs.
    Classes

Trips can be classed as either:
    Class A
    • Typically, these vehicles are cars and motorcycles.
    • These trips may also be referred to as: Class 2 or CAR
    Class B
    • Typically, these vehicles are trucks, heavy vehicles, and can include larger items being towed depending on the overall dimensions.
    • These trips may also be referred to as: Class 4 or HCV

Yep, I’ve been stung by that when towing a 3m tall caravan
