  • windscreen trim and effect on weather/water seal

    Hi teams,

Does the windscreen trims (left and right) play any role in weather and water sealing at all? I recently had a play around with the passenger side windscreen trim, tried to hide the light bar cable under that trim but was unsuccessful. I then have to tuck it in the channel of the trim (on the side of the trim) itself and used silicon to keep the cable in place. During the process, I had to lift the trim up and push it back in and also lifted the triangle plastic trim on the foot of the long windscreen trim, trying my best to hide the cable. Would any of this affect the weather sealing of the windscreen?

The last thing I would like is water leakage after my proud DIY project

Does the weather and water sealing process involve the windscreen trims (left and right) in any way? I recently tried to conceal the light bar cable under the trim on the passenger-side windscreen, but I was unsuccessful. I had to apply silicon to secure the cable after tucking it into the trim's groove (on the side of the trim). To cover the cable, I had to lift the long windscreen trim up and push it back in while also lifting the triangle plastic trim at the foot of the trim.

The windscreen trim is a rubber or plastic molding that surrounds the edges of a vehicle's windshield. It serves as both an aesthetic feature and a weather/water seal. The trim helps to secure the windshield in place and prevents water, wind, and debris from entering the interior of the vehicle, maintaining a weatherproof and watertight seal.

The moulding that encircles the windscreen edges of a car is called the windscreen trim. It functions as a weather/water seal as well as an attractive element. The trim keeps a weatherproof and waterproof seal by holding the windscreen firmly in place and preventing water, wind and debris from entering the interior of the car.
