Hello, I just bought a Prado and this is my first post , so go easy. It seems like a stupid question but is it possible to have the multimedia apps etc on the dash available without the need to start the engine, In other words, can I have the ignition active to light the screen and use it without kicking the motor over.

You obviously don't have a Prado to play with yet! I had to go through every iteration before I found one that started our Prado. Probably not what the average buyer has to do. I bought my used GX from one of those large warehouses: the engine was already running before the test drive, so I'd never started it before I had to drive away. Great price but not much explanation.
The start-stop button works differently when you do or don't have your foot on the brake pedal. Without the brake pedal pressed, the button cycles the power: Off-Acc-Ign-Off. With your foot on the brake pedal, it goes straight from Off-Start-Off. Of course, to start you have to have the transmission in Park or Neutral. The multimedia system powers up in either Acc or Ign. Ign lights up the dashboard, runs the cabin fans etc. as well as the MM.

Good luck DeeBee. Test things out.
I am probably getting too old in the tooth, but I still don't see many benefits with the push button start systems.
Sure security chips in the key like my old Prado keys were great.
But Keyless -
.firstly need to find a place to keep my keys in the car apart from the ignition lock.
.security, I go in the water a lot. I have to disable the electronic key connectivity in the system and secure the key fob somewhere.
.push the brake every time I wish to start the vehicle. Must be first.
.vehicle stalls as if I walk too far from the vehicle if the key is my pocket, because I can't put in it the ignition.
