Ok, did a search but couldn't seem to find anything of detail on the topic. If there is an existing topic I apolgise.
I have just gone through the process of removing the '3400 Quad Cam' decals from both sides of my rig as the existing decals were damaged. I replaced them with 'Cut Vinyl' decals I purchased for ~$15 a pair and I'm extremely happy with the outcome.
I also removed the 'Full Time 4WD' decal from the rear window as it was all but missing. I am waiting for the $4 replacement to arrive in the mail.
After doing this little fix I thought it might be of interest to others as to the process of removing the decals in preperation for the replacements. This is something I have found has been asked at some stage in other vehicle clubs I have been a member of in the past.
There is no hard and fast way on how to do it and different people have different ideas / preferences on how they do it but below is just a guide that will hopefully help people get started.
Anywho, what I did ...
1. Drive down to the local car wash and hit the existing decal with the high pressure hose. This will remove the lettering but leave the glue base.
2. Go home, dry off the area and spray a good soaking of 'Goo Remover' (generally an orange based product for removing stickers and/or adhesive residue) and allow to sit for a few minutes ... a good opportunity to go inside and grab the brew of choice.
3. grab a handfull of paper towel and give it a bit of a scrub. A fair bit of the glue should ball up. This may appear to smear the glue a little but don't worry, the smeared stuff comes off easy, it's the sh*t that doesn't move you need to concentrate on.
4. Sneak the wife's / girlfriends hairdryer out of the bathroom and apply heat to the glue residue (I recommend NOT using a heat gun as the heat from that is a little too extreme for the paintwork). Keep the hairdryer moving and periodically feel the paintwork to ensure you don't over-heat the paint.
5. While applying heat you can feel the glue start to soften, as it does, give it a scrub with paper towel and add a little more goo remover. You may need to do this a few times.
6. I found after cleaning up at this point that there was only a little left. I gently used the tip of my finger (or back of my fingernail for the stubburn bits) to rub off what was left and again sprayed and wiped with the goo remover.
7. Lastly, I gave the whole area a clean with some Metho on paper towel and allowed that area to cool and dry before applying the replacement decal.
As for the 'Full Time 4WD' decal, that was a simple matter of using a scraping blade and cleaning with a little goo romover and metho. Removing exterior decals from glass is a no brainer.

Additionally, I got the same guy who cut the '3400' decals to cut a 'PRADOPOINT.com' decal at 300mm long for the rear window. He charged me $10 and sent me 3 decals. Said he could do 10 for $25. I didn't order in bulk as I didn't know what the quality would be like. Now that I have them I can say they are good quality and can provide the guy's details if anyone wants them.
