Hi once again. Another question in deciding on a UHF Radio. I am choosing between the ORICOM DTX4200XUAP ULTIMATE ADVENTURE PACK with a dual antenna and the GME XRS-330COB XRS CONNECT OUTBACK PACK WITH AE4707B. Mainly for outback use. Not really interested in Comms for around the city. The oricom has a 3.0dBi and 6.5dBi gain combination antenna and the GME has a single 2.1dBi gain. Does anyone think one of these is far superior than the other in terms of ease of operation, or any other element that has proven to be better. ... for example, the handpiece speaker loudness, or the extension of the mic (data plug or screw-on) to the dash, or the dual channel monitoring and anything that you really like and is worthwhile.

My personal experience with GME is excellent, from what I have read the GME XRS unit has a significantly faster scan cycle which reduces the chance of missing a short message.
It obviously has other features which may or may not be useful but for most people I think the scan speed would be a plus.

I have a GME Xrs 370
Great sound quality etc.
As long as you spend some decent money, you will get a reasonable unit.
I have the 2.1 db aerial and it’s great in dunes and tracks etc.
I’ve never needed to talk to anyone too far away so it suits my needs.
I you intend on using on long plains then I’d go for a 6 db but I’ve never needed it in a convoy etc.

Thanks for your input to this. I have a mate who has been outfitting his 4WD and has put in a GME 330, which he swears by. At the moment I'm getting an idea that this unit, or at least this brand is a popular choice, and is the likely candidate for me. Not to say some others are not equal to the task, but if one is commonly used by your friends or travelling mates, then that might work best.
