  • Battery problem makes noisy engine fault

Hello everybody. I have a diesel Toyota landcruiser prado 2012 and about a week ago the battery died when I tried to start the engine when we had a 5 degree frost. The ignition light flicked but the engine did not start. I replaced the battery and the engine now starts and knocks loudly like it is running on 3 cylinders. I have had the injector module out but no one can test it and at $1000nz I am not keen to buy a new one if it is not needed. Does anybody have any suggestions, the 4low and skidding light are flashing and a computer has been plugged in but nothing could be done to fix the problem. Thanks in advance. Kezz

What are the codes when you plugged a diagnostic in?

I have not got the codes, an autoelectrician came to my house and said he needed an oscilliscope to check the pulse to the injectors and left. (He did remove the electrical plug on the injectors. When no 1 cylinder plug was removed the engine made no change in noise but any of the other three electrical plugs the engine stopped.) The engine does run, idle anyway but he said he could not tell if the injector module or the electronics on the injector were dead. He put a light across the no 1 cylinder injector and there was no flash so thus the need for an oscilliscope. Thank you for your reply I am sorry I have no more information. I just have a very large brick stuck on my drive which I think I will need to tow to a toyota workshop.
