Either side at ba k of engine bay. Any extra hole in the grommet can be sealed with silicone or similar
And when you're done, make sure the grommet is properly sealed. I've read on this forum about owners having just small (but persistant) amounts of water getting through the firewall and into critical wiring on the inside of the vehicle.

After you're done, double check that the grommet is completely closed. From what I've read on this site, some owners have had very little (but persistent) water seepage through the firewall and into the vehicle's electrical systems. driving directions
