  • LED headlights

Hi all. I have a 99 Prado and would like any recommendations for LED headlights that I can run my spot lights off and won’t mess up my dash high beam indicator. Thanks. Greg

Nothing legal, in Aust it had to have come out with them to be legal to fit later. LED's will cause a lot of light scatter and blind oncoming drivers.

In Australia it would have had to have been released with them for it to be legal to fit subsequently. LEDs will generate a great deal of light dispersion and blind oncoming motorists.

Mate, if your spotties are any good you won’t need the blue high beam warning light.
I gave my old 90 LED’s, adjusted low beam way down and never had any flashes. Vast improvement.
But I tried LED’s in my 150 and it was woeful, went back to halogen bulbs.
Have had much, much worse glare from lifted modern vehicles with factory self levelling headlight systems.
Of course your LED upgrade won’t be legal so opt for as low temperature you can find, 4500 max.
Any higher temperature and the blue colour is a dead give away.

I’ve never seen a set of replacement led headlights that gave any improvement over a decent set of halogens.
Just fit driving lights and use when you would use high beam.
Saves you annoying other drivers and keeps on the right side of the law.
