I am looking for a non genuine cargo barrier to fit in the back of my 2022 Prado 7 seater. I don’t like the look of the genuine Toyota ones. It needs to be a stand alone barrier not connected to any rear drawer systems. Any recommendations appreciated.

I use the Kaon light cargo and pet barrier, it is not rated (I don't know how many actually are). It is very well made (steel), I like it as I can drop the middle of the middle row seats to add long items, and if I need to drop the middle sets entirely, I just have to remove the two head rests, and the seats fold down. It was $340odd, delivered (if you haven't bought from them before, I think you get a 5% discount if you sign up to their mailing list), and I installed it in about 10mins.

Engineering wise the Kaon doesn't have the certification, however, it looks very solid and if properly secured it should prevent stuff flying into the main cabin, which is the main objective. (Speaking from experience in accident rescue and as a qualified mech eng.)[B]Steve[/B]

lmsbb, that's fair enough of course, but some things (maybe obvious) to consider:
- Any cargo that has most of its mass below the middle seat height shouldn't be an issue in a frontal crash
- Heavy things like a fridge or food crates etc. should be tied down anyway
So what's left after that? In my case, relatively light weight stuff that I'm confident that the KAON will handle.
If you are worried about what happens in a roll over, then yeh, maybe a full spec cargo barrier is the way to go.
Nice to hear that mechanical engineer krypto gives the KAON the tick of approval :-).
