Just wondering what tyre pressures people run when towing compared to when not towing.
It is a 2022 VX with the standard Dunlop Grandtrek AT30 265/55/19
I usually bump my rear pressures up 4 psi when fully loaded and/or towing on the highway, on sand I usually keep that front to rear variation the same but at lower pressures.
I use the 4 psi rule, that is, from cold tyre pressure should increase by 4 psi when hot. The theory is if pressure increase is less than 4 psi too high a cold pressure, if more then too low a cold pressure (or too high a speed for load or road surface).
Speed, road surface (or track, beach etc.) and load all effect heat build up, for example driving a dirt road at 80 km/hr will produce less heat so less pressure increase compared to the same road at 100 km/hr. This way i set my pressures to suit my load, tyre construction, speed etc.

On my 21 VX I run 36 PSI Cold around town and up it to 40 PSI cold when doing highway towing and have had no issues.
I did see pictures and similar questions from someone who used the 29 PSI on the door placard and burst two Tyres driving up the Stewart Highway with only a light load in the vehicle. So recommend not going that low if your intending doing highway speeds.
