2021 Prado Injector Failure

I have just had the injectors replaced by Toyota under warranty after a significant failure at 36000km. Apparently this is a known problem where numerous warnings come up and the car goes into reduced power mode. Toyota have issued a bulletin to service centres with a recommended fix. According to the service centre the DPF injector is not affected by this problem. Are there any other owners of the latest 2.8 diesel (150 kW/500Nm) engine that have had this issue and if so has there been any further problems.

First I have heard of an injector issue with the 2.8L.

Haven't heard of any Toyota warranty or other issues with the 1GD Injectors so checked the Toyota Aust Bulletins for all Prados and didn't find any - only seats on the 1KD injectors and those linked to the 1GD DPF (which will include the reported 5th Injector blockage issue).

There will always be random premature failures of any engine/drivetrain/electrical component which is why we have warranties but it appears in the 1GD Injector case to not be a common issue as indicated to the OP.

Like the 1KD injectors the 1GD version will be subject to wear and require replacing at some stage so it would still be worth having them monitored as you get higher up in the km range and replaced when out of spec.

Unlike the previous versions the 150kw injector has a lot of smarts built in so can self diagnose if it is having issues.
