Pre Crash Brake Assist

Has anyone had a issue where the pre crash brake system has activated ie hard braking and seat belt activation when driving on a bumpy winding road even though there were no vehicles or animals in sight? Quite a scary event for everyone in the car...what if there was another car on my backside tailgating as there often is )

Pre crash braking. Has anyone had an issue with this as per my post above? Would be great to have some feedback as its a pretty scary situation.

No issues over the 5 years I have owned my VX.
There was a post a couple of years back but from memory it was not confirmed as the brake application supposedly caused the trailer being towed at the time to break the hitch.

Thanks Lee. Ive tried searching crash brake system but nothing comes up. Ill keep searching as Im sure someone must have had the brake assist activate without a sign of oncoming traffic.
I did read in the manual that it could activate on sharp bends where the radar could line up with the barrier on the opposite side of the road. this is what may have been the issue in a very windy road. Cheers Gary

Mine will flash up the warning if something is parked on the side on a corner but has never activated the brakes in that scenario.

Hi Gary,

I have had the warning message and beep happen a couple of times on my 21 VX but never the actual brakes being applied.
From the info online and in the operator manual it should be a 3 stage process:
1. BRAKE Warning message on centre display when its sensors detect a potential crash issue.
2. Warning beeper if you haven't taken action but have time to do so.
3. Brake application if you take no action and crash imminent (adds additional braking force if needed if you do brake but not hard enough).

Did you get either of the first two before it went off?

There is a Low/Med/(Default)/High sensitivity setting in the PCS settings menu but I believe this is only the warning and beep volume and does not change the detection distance or brake activation.

Hi Tommo, thanks for the reply its appreciated. There were 3 stages however between the Brake warning message to the beep to the brake application it all happened very fast.
If it happens again I think the best will be as soon as the warning sign appears to touch the brakes before it has time to respond any further, I presume this way the system thinks I have taken control of the situation?
Ill check the PCS settings and see if this helps, but if it does not change the sensitivity of the brake activation then its probably not worth changing the settings.
