  • Minor problems with 2001 Prado 50th Anniversary

Hi everyone. My name's Nik, I live on NSW mid north coast.
I am looking at buying a 2001 Toyota Prado 50th Anniversary. At this stage, I only know f 2 faults / problems with this car:

1: The door remote is long lost. Can these be replaced easily? I see that you can buy them on Amazon, but can you code them without the original? The cars manual also has the key number if it's required?
2: The second fuel tank does not work. Apparently, if you switch over to the spare, the vehicle stops. In fact, the current owner uses the second tank switch as a Kill switch!
Is this a common, easily fixed problem?

As far as I've seen so far, the vehicle is in excellent condition otherwise.

the tank fuel pump could have seized. when i bought mine, it was the main tank not working. it was half full of water and all rusted. had to replace the tank and pump.

i never had luck with the remote, central locking via key in the door still worked.
the remote needs to be paired with the module in the passenger kick trim. there is info on line how to program but never worked for me.

    good luck
