      Underbonnet bushranger - connected to an air-tank in the bullbar with an airline point on the base of the bullbar (easy to access).

      Coiled hose can reach all four tyres for easy inflation.

        What size tank was that Grandeman? Nine litre, fifteen litre or something else?

        What type of bullbar did you fit this to?

        A mate of mine has just been looking to do the same thing and I just wanted to check and see what did/didn't work before he started.

          It's an ARB Deluxe bar.

          From memory, I think it is the smaller tank - it was done some years ago.

            Yes there's a heap of room in the deluxe bar if you don't have a winch. I store my ropes and a water hose in there.

              Cut the battery clamps off and fitted an Anderson plug to my portable Bushranger compressor on the weekend. Now I can quickly plug it in to the back of the car or the drawbar on the camper without having to stuff around getting to the battery and removing terminal covers etc.

              Works well.

                I bought a AC-compressor from a wrecked 1KZ-TE Prado, complete with mount, belt and AC button. I bolted it to my 1KZ-TE and connected it to the AC button in the heater controls with an inline 110-150 psi Viair pressure switch. The tank comes from a old boom/crane truck, and is mounted on the inside of the right frame-rail, where the stock muffler was.

                I put a air-filter and a oiler on the compressors intake and a separator on the outtake. I ran 8 mm plumbing to the bumpers and have a 8 mm x 5m hose that connects to air-couplers in the bumpers and has a female coupler on the other end for accessories.

                When I need to inflate my tires I press the "Idle Up" switch and start working. I usually leave the AC button pressed in when off-roading, to make sure I always have 11 liters of 150 PSI air available, compressors clutch won´t engage unless the pressure in the tank drops to 110 PSI.
                Prado GX ´97, 1KZ-TE, 38" tires, Hella and IPF lights and a lot more stuff.

                  That's a great idea to have an external point of 12V on the vehicle. The external Anderson plug could also be used for flouro lights, and an input point for solar panels.

                    Yep, I've just bought a solar panel and specified it with an Anderson plug so I can either plug it into the Anderson on the camper drawbar to charge the camper battery or if we're just camping with the car, I can plug it into the Anderson on the towbar and charge the aux car battery.

                            One problem i have found with portable is that the thing gets so hot that after i have done 6 tyres (camper included ) you have to wait around for it to cool as i am afraid it would melt the leads etc if i just stuffed it away. I love the anderson idea though
                            Dont list all ya mods, you will only be more upset when i get further

                              Location is what works for you. I've had two "brand name' compressors mounted under bonnets, both of which died prematurely. I now have a portable one that has out lasted both of them. Sure, it may be a little less convenient to get it out, and hook it up, but I like it's portability and reliability. IMO, I do'nt think they like the extreames ( hot, cold, and sometimes wet ) under the bonnet.

                                Thanks for the help and links. The images and descriptions of the install are great. For some reason the various search criteria was only coming up with the text and discussion.
                                Will look into installing on the drivers side as the fit and orientation there suits better. May end up dropping the Prado into a workshop though as time is premium at the moment.
