BFG A/T Tyres have the "wanders"

I have just replaced the original Dunlop tyres on my 07 Prado with BFG A/T tyres.
I find that the vehicle now tends to "wander" on the road.
Any suggestions ? Could a wheel alignment be the answer ? Is this to be expected with new BFG A/T tyres ?
Any advise would be welcome.

I run BFG AT and don't have that problem. Have you checked the pressures?

Pressures, alignment and balance are the first things to check. Sometimes tyre places get lazy and don't check final pressures after fitting so you might have 40psi in two, 20 psi in one and 30 in another, it has happened to me before, I trust you had the alignment done too with the new tyres, could be not enough toe in which will make the front wander. The same as D4D my BFG A/Ts are fine and they now have 15,000km on them.

I would get a wheel alignment done asap, your old tyres may have worn unevenly due to bad wheel alignment. Now your new tyres are highlighting this.
For what its worth I get a wheel alignment done with every set of new tyres, its cheap compared to wearing them out too soon.
It wouldn`t be unreasonable to get one done every year or two depending on how they are wearing, as you tend to hit and bump into a few things when 4wding.

The BFG AT's will feel different to the original Dunlops as they dont have a centre tread bar to keep it tracking correctly. Check the alignment and pressures as suggested but it may just be the difference in tyre tread design.

Thanks Guys for your advice I will book in for a wheel alignment today. The fronts have 37 lb cold at the moment un loaded. (Interesting that the Owners Manual says 28 lb)

Run BFG's on a 120 at 38 psi and rotate them every 5000kms. They will wear fine and there will be no issues.

A correct wheel alignment is also a good place to start..

lb means Pounds. PSI means Pounds per Square Inch. In this case they are both the same.

I've never experienced wandering with the A/T's on my Prado plus 2 previous Hiluxes. Have always run 36 psi on road. Must be a wheel alignment thing causing your problem :?:

IU guess the question of what do you mean by wander should be asked? Does this mean it is pulling to one side or just heading either direction. Do you have a lift at all? Alignment could be one issue but balance as well. A lift kit can also impact and so would the tyres but they are only BFG A/Ts so they shouldn't cause issues like a mud tyre.
