Re: Trying to get new avatar

Until Aaron fixes this issue you cannot upload avatars to the PP server. You need to host them on an external site and use the avatar link feature.

I am trying to use this but keep getting this???

The URL you specified is invalid.

I think I might have to wait for the problem to be fixed (although I think the problem is me so could take a while  )

Yes. There are a LOT of threads about the same issue and the ONLY solution at this point in time is to upload your image off site and link it in.

Thanks, sorted. RTFM we call it. Read the fn manual. And if it still doesn't work read it again.

As Nick said, you the only way that it appears possible to do is to upload it to an external image hosting site and then link the file from the external source.

Enter the URL for the image into the "Link off Site" field on the User Control Panel, Edit Avatar tab, make sure that the IMG tags have been removed that are often added to the URL if you have used the copy link option provided by the hosting site. Ensure the "Avatar Dimensions" are set correctly or left blank for automatic dectection and click "Submit".

                  Should work no problems.

Not yet, I am having the new 8" screen with DVD, Sat Nav etc fitted on Wednesday so I may take a few photos then. Nothing too serious as it is still an offroad virgin and is used as a tow vehicle for our 21 foot caravan.

Almost mate, the link needs to include the actual picture file name aswell, such as the following for example:
                            http://s4.postimage.org/2ewb19js4/008.jpg

                            Or similar...

Not a user of postimage myself, but there is possibly an option to copy a direct link to the image as a popup menu on mouse-over or right-click menu?

lol. I opened the link that you provided above, right-clicked on the image and when to properties. in the properties page, it gives a direct link to the actual image, selected it and another right-click to copy it... Then pasted that into the post...
