Who is about to release a new model ute?

Hi all,
Whilst driving up the Newcastle Freeway from Sydney last Monday to pick up my new 150, I drew up alongside 2 new utes that were covered all over in a black fabric as well as some mouldings to disguise the roof lines and grill.
One looked very similar in shape to the current model Hilux work ute and the other was similar in shape to the SR5.
That's not to say that's what they were, but they did look like it.
Unfortunately I was too slow to grab my phone to take some shots and they turned off the freeway into the area just off the end of the Brooklyn Bridge before I could grab it.
Anyone have any ideas as to what they might have been?

if they were a 4wd utes, maybe the new VW's?
Or maybe Toyota is finally giving the hilux a decent overhaul.

I reckon the VW's or the new mazda/ ford twins!!

Reading the Drive column in the Sydney Morning Herald, today, it shows pictures of the two Ford Ranger utes that are undergoing testing around Sydney at the moment.
Never would have guessed it under all that disguise :shock:

Reading the Drive column in the Sydney Morning Herald, today, it shows pictures of the two Ford Ranger utes that are undergoing testing around Sydney at the moment.
Never would have guessed it under all that disguise :shock:

I do know my cars, I really should be selling them, had a bet with a Mazda salesman today about some wheels on a mazda 6 and won that one!! Isn't the first time that I have know more than the salesman!!!

That black camo is a pain in the neck to get on and off too.

Salesmen know absolutely nothing about cars, same with insurance companies, I once had a SR5 4 runner, it was an 86 model, with the 4YE motor and auto box, it was the hardest thing trying to convince them it was not an import.
