Who has knowledge about CT tire pressures on the sand. Going to Fraser in 2 weeks and have read to leave CT tires hard so it floats over the sand.Makes scence if car needs to pull with drive train.

Re: Camper Trailer Tire Pressures
The foot print of the camper tires should be the same as the tow vehicle. Lower your vehicle tires to sand driving pressures and measure the length of the tire foot print. Then lower the camper tires to a pressure that produces a tire foot print the same length as that of the tow vehicle. This usually means running the camper tires at lower pressures than the tow vehicle.
Not lowering trailer tire pressures will make the tow vehicle work harder, run hotter, use more fuel and inevitably lead to getting bogged.

Re: Camper Trailer Tire Pressures
Leachy is spot on with what he said, i dont go to the trouble of measuring tyre footprints though as i have easy access to a wieghbridge. i know that my CT and front axle run very similar wieght so i always run the CT tyre pressures the same as the front tyres, rear tyres around 4 psi more than Steer and CT. this applies to any surface, mud, gravel, bitumen.

Re: Camper Trailer Tire Pressures
I have always done the same as what AJ120 said on the 2 trips I have been to Fraser towing a fully loaded car + Camper trailer. About 4 psi more in the rear tyres than the front and keep the CT tyres and front car tyres the same. Never had a problem even in really soft sand.--Dave
