Not a bad topic for a poll Chippy.
We'll have to be careful, soon we will have our whole life scattered over various polls/posts

I guess I'm lucky enough to have Angus as part of my salary package.
By stating "guess I'm lucky " I mean that I put lots of hours/effort in. If I worked out my salary divided by hours then it not brilliant compared to some of our guys who get paid o/time.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy what I do and Angus makes a big difference to the whole deal. In fact I'm over the moon.

        Hiya Pete

I was tossing up whether to go with this poll or one discussing our partner's bust size (with pics) but thought I would stick with "subtle" - for now

My job allows me to package a car - which lets the missus work a couple of days a week and keeps the tax man off my back. The last 9 years have been packaged Commodores - but about 2 months ago we shifted up a gear - literally !

I love the Prado - and got a BIG KID's mechano set into the bargain.

        Cheers

Sorry Sim - you're dead right.

I've justed checked on whether I can edit the poll - but it already has votes recorded. Only a Moderator or Administrator can edit it now.

How about it Matt, Drew, Stan ?? Do you guys want to add a "Haven't bought it yet" option to the poll ?

            Cheers

Geez Chippy, adding a "Haven't bought it yet" choice will sure confuse me. I was thinking of possibly buying Angus after the lease ends :?
Maybe I'm now leaning to your suggestion re a poll for our partners BUST size

Bought it over the phone believe it or not. But I did get a mate to look at it for me first.! 8)
2 days later I flew to Qld to pick it up.! Was one of those dream deals, fantastic price and it was immaculate. Was lucky enough to spot it advertised online about 3hrs after it was posted. Had never been offroad and seriously doubt it had seen gravel roads other than roadworks.!! (shame they dont stay like it)

                  Hey Matt

I've seen Justo's ride in the flesh (the car guys, the car!) and it's one sweet looking unit.

As for being a genuine one owner - only ever driven to church on Sundays - well, Justo soon fixed that

I looked at packaging the Toyota with my salary but I got scared off by all the caveats, no rooting, no tooting, no modifications blah blah  . Thankfully I could afford to buy it outright, so now it's mine, if I want to paint it pink and drill speed holes all over the bonnet, I CAN.

I plan to drive this Toyota until it falls to bits (or until I fall in love with a V8 D4-D 200 series), so the depreciation isn't going to be an issue for me. Crikey, I've owned 5 brand new cars in the last few years, don't talk to me about depreciation.

I wonder, all you blokes who lease, how do you go with all the "no modifications" caveats in the lease. Or aren't all companies as strict as the mob my employer use?

                      Cheers,

                      Drew.

I suppose the list of caveats is fairly long - but it boils down to DO NOT DEVALUE THE VEHICLE .

I figure it devalues while I drive it so anything else is fair game.
Seriously though, a bar, a pair of lights and a roof rack aren't an issue.

I may just have to wait until I buy it, at the end of the lease, before I go the 4" lift, portal hubs and 35" MTs.

                        Cheers

                          OT warning

                          Drew,
it depends on the style of lease and the company. My current lease allows me to do whatever I like to the car. I can't pay for modifications from the lease funds, but I can change the car. The lease company doesn't care what I do with it as long as they get their required payout at the end.

So if I change the car so it's worth less at the end of the lease then I have to poney up the money to make up the difference between the car value and the lease residual.

Consequently I'm test driving a new Prado on friday and then I'll be buying it on a lease and modifying it as often as I can afford it (This is my token "I'm complying with the poll topic" sentence as I hit "Haven't got one yet, still wishing !" )

                          Cheers,

                          Demented

There seems to be a big difference in what you can and cannot do depending on your lease/salary sacrifice company.
My lease company couldn't care less what modifications I do, so long as the vehicle remains legal ie. has insurance cover. In fact all the modifications I have were done through Toyota (and they didn't effect warranty) as part of the original purchase. That way I got them paid for with pre-tax dollars and can depreciate them with vehicle.
I've asked about further mods and they don't care.

                              G'day and welcome - Demented.

Wow - looks like other lease companies are more flexible than the one we were looking at. I guess it makes sense, if you de-value it, you pay for it.

Get out your drills, it's speed holes all 'round. (Anyone remember that episode of the Simpsons?)
