Towing Comparison 3.4 vs 4.0 vs 3.0TD

I am hoping to enlist the help of a couple of PP forum members to do an actual comparison check of the towing ability of the 3.4 vs 4.0 (120 series) and 3000 TD.

What I am proposing is towing a caravan over a distance of 5 to 10 km, the 3 vehicles one after the other to compare how well the vehicle will tow up a moderate hill. I am not proposing a race but just everyday type driving that you might encounter whilst touring. The whole exercise should not take any longer than 1 hour. I love my 3.4 V6 auto but have been wondering if another Prado of different configuration would suit my purpose better.

Are there any forum members that live in southern Adelaide suburbs with either a 4.0 or 90/120 series 3000TD (autos) that would be prepared to conduct such a check with me in the next few weeks? I will supply the caravan and the 3.4 for the comparison. The results could be of interest to the rest of the forum.

Sounds like you could make a bit of a get together to do it and have a little fun and lunch or dinner after-wards.

Next two weekends are no good for me and im actually from inner northern suburbs but if you get stuck PM me and we'll work something out.

sounds like he wants to compare the 2 V6's and the 1KZ if i am not mistaken...but throwing in the 1KD also would be good...

Looks like it might take a few weeks to organise as no-one else has yet offered their vehicle. And sorry, no, the return of the van is not optional. I have to get it (and myself) back to Brisbane later.

How about it guys (and gals) any other offers of a vehicle for this comparison? And yes, why not make it a get together with a lunch or bbq or something.
